Welcome to Year 5.Year 5 is an important year for children where we prepare for Year 6 and the challenges of moving to high school in the not too distant future. Although there is a strong emphasis on academic learning in the core subjects of Reading, Writing, Maths and Science, we also think it is important to make our learning fun and exciting and we aim to make lessons as engaging and interesting as possible. It is vital that your child tries their best and has a positive attitude towards their learning if they are to achieve their potential. It is also important that you encourage and support your child with homework and by keeping in contact with us regularly to ensure we are doing everything possible to help them make the maximum progress. If you are ever unsure of anything, please don’t hesitate to email either of us with any enquiries or telephone school. You can also use the Class Dojo system to contact us. Key things to know about our class...Our P.E lessons are on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child has full P.E kit in school all week. Home learning is given out on a Friday and is to be returned the following Thursday. Book bags should be brought into school every day including the reading records. We would also like your child to access educational games, Spelling Shed and Times Time Rockstars. Each child has their own logins for both sites and are set individual challenges tailored to them. It is part of your child's homework to access these at least three times a week. RewardsEvery Friday, we have a celebration assembly where we are able to celebrate the various achievements of children throughout school. Each week, two children are chosen as 'Learners of the Week' and recieve a special certificate and a mention in the weekly newsletter. We also choose one 'Reader of the Week' who has stood out for the effort in reading either in school or at home that week - they also receive a special certificate and a mention in the newsletter. Across school we use the Class Dojo system for rewarding children. Children may receive Dojo Points for their work, manners, being a good friend and a host of other great things. Make sure you sign up for the Class Dojo App so you can see how your child is doing! Dojo Points are added together and allow children to work towards the Planet Awards! Each planet in the solar system represents a total of Dojo Points beginning with 100 Dojo Points for Mercury, 250 Dojo Points for Venus, 450 Dojo Points for Earth etc... Contact DetailsTo get in touch with us, please send either of us a message on Class Dojo or email us on [email protected] or [email protected] To contact Mrs Robinson, our SENCO, who works with parents of SEN children, her email address is [email protected] |
