Hello from Year 3!

Welcome to our class page!

Year 3 is a crucial year as the children transition from Key Stage 1 and we see children really begin to mature and become much more confident in their learning. We try to make learning as engaging and interesting as possible as this is how they learn most effectively. Taking part in experiments, setting challenges and working in a very cross curricular way gives each child a chance to show their own talents and abilities. It is important for us to see the children smiling and enjoying their learning in school.

It is vital that your child tries their best and has a positive attitude towards school if they are to achieve their potential. It is also important that you encourage and support your child with homework and by keeping in contact with me regularly to ensure we are doing everything possible to help them make the maximum progress. If you are ever unsure of anything, please don’t hesitate to call or email to discuss your concerns and queries. I’m always happy to help!

Rewards

Every Friday, we have a celebration assembly where we are able to celebrate the various achievements of children throughout school. Each week, 2 children are chosen as 'Learners of the Week' and recieve a special certificate and a mention in the weekly newsletter. We also choose 1 'Reader of the Week' who has stood out for the effort in reading either in school or at home that week - they also receive a special certificate and a mention in the newsletter.

Across school we use the Class Dojo system for rewarding children. Children may receive Dojo Points for their work, manners, being a good friend and a host of other great things. Make sure you sign up for the Class Dojo App so you can see how your child is doing! Dojo Points are added together and allow children to work towards the Planet Awards! Each planet in the solar system represents a total of Dojo Points beginning with 100 Dojo Points for Mercury, 250 Dojo Points for Venus, 450 Dojo Points for Earth etc...

Key things to know about our class...

Our P.E lessons are on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please ensure your child has full P.E kit in school all week.

Home learning is given out on a Friday and is to be returned the following Thursday. Also it would be highly beneficial if children practice Times Table Rockstars, Numbots and Spelling Shed at home regularly.

Book bags should be brought into school every day including the reading record.
