Welcome to West Street!!

We are on Week  four of our new journey at West Street. We have had an action packed time, making new friends & exploring our school, as well as starting our learning journey. We have familiarised ourselves with all the areas in our new classroom (new to the staff aswell, after a big overhaul), made fruit kebabs, explored the whole school whilst looking for 2d shapes, started to learn to write our names, focusing on letter formation & pencil grip, number recognition & much more!

We have started to introduce Supersonic Phonics Friends. This is our Phonics programme which will lay the foundations for your child to read & write. We have a phonics session everyday & will soon be inviting parents in to a short session, helping you to understand our phonics programme & how you can help to support your child (watch this space). We will start to send homework home this week, it will usually be sent home on a Friday & can be returned the following Monday. This is designed to support your childs learning & shouldnt take up too much time.

School have provided your child with a book bag of their own to keep, we will pop their homework & any other communication in there, so please do check each time it comes home. This week we will be including a QR code for you to log on to the Class Dojo App. We use this app in class for rewards, as well as stickers, & to communicate with parents/carers. You can log on to this & customise it for your child & to send a message to the class teacher. 

This week saw the start of our parents mornings. These will run every Tuesday & Thursday morning. We would like to welcome our parents into the classroom to give you an insight into what we do in class & how you can best support your children to reach their full potential. 

Finally, rewards assembly will be held every Friday morning. If your child is to recieve an award on a Friday we will let you know so that you are able to attend & watch rthem recieve their certificate!
