Signs of Spring!

Welcome to the Summer term!
We have had a busy start to this half term with our Eid celebrations last week. We learned all about Ramadan & had a party to celebrate Eid. Miss Akhtar helped us to make some traditional dishes called chat. Our parents & families also donated lots of food for our celebrations, we had an absolute feast & there is still plenty left over, which we will use over the coming days at snack times.
This week, with the improved weather, we have spent more time outside looking for signs of spring & the change in the environment. We have noticed that a lot of the bulbs have become flowers, the buds on the trees are opening & our Cherry Tree looks spectacular. Some of us have enjoyed digging for mini beasts in the mud kitchen & counting how many we have found.
Indoors we have opened our own florist, where we are using coins to count & give change & also writing receipts. We have also been using numicon to find different ways to make 10 & then working on our fine motor skills, using tweezers to pick up beans & small pasta to fill the numicon.
Finally, this week, we took delivery of our very own Caterpillars. We have 5 altogether & we are excited to see them grow before they form a Chrysalis & metamorphosize into Butterflies!
