Welcome back everybody, what a fanastic start to the Summer term!
This week we have been looking at plants and what they need to grow.
We planted sunflower seeds and we spoke about the life cycle of plants. The children knew they needed plenty of water and sunshine. We are looking forward to see how they grow over the coming weeks. Some children are now able to name the key parts to a flower also.
In the craft area we painted sunflowers using the correct colours. We also made some by painting paper plates yellow and using scissors safely to make snips for the petals.
Outside the chidlren have enjoyed role playing in our new garden centre. Taking turns at being the customer and shop keeper.
We have enjoyed the sunshine and made the most of our outdoor area. The children have loved playing in the sandpit and on the grass area on the climbing frames. Thank you to the Year 6 children for weeding and tidying our playground, they have done a fantastic job. We made thankyou cards for their hard work.
We also had a visitor outside on Thursday, whilst outside we came across a baby hedgehog. The children were fascinated by his prickles and we all said how cute he was. On Friday we drew pictures of the hedgehog and chatted about them and what we know. We spoke about their habitats and what they like to eat.
