Farm Trip

Date: 30th Jun 2022 @ 4:16pm

Reception Class had a fabulous day at Thornton Hall Farm. We were very excited – we traveled on a coach to the farm singing songs and talking about all the things that we saw along the way. Once we arrived at the farm we were greeted by Farmer Caitlin who would be our guide for the day. First of all we ran wild on the brand new indoor soft play area where we navigated the tunnels loops and winds and witnessed great team work, helping our friends who may have been struggling or didn’t feel very brave at going on some of the equipment.

Secondly we went to bottle feed the lively calves and lambs their breakfast – they were so happy to see us! Caitlin told us some information about all the animals on the farm as we walked around. The children loved seeing Big Mac the huge horse – he is such a gentle giant and enjoyed being petted. Other animals we met and petted were Dave and Diana the donkeys, Trigger the Horse, Cows, Alpacas, Llamas, chickens, Lambs, Sheep, Calf, Rabbits, Ginuea Pigs, Goats, Emus, Pigs and Deer there was so much to see. We spoke about their habitats and how we can care for them and what they eat. Caitlin then took us on an adventure walk to the deer, they came over to us for some food and posed for a photo. Caitlin said the fawns were the closest they had ever been, so we managed to get a really good look at them. Farmer Caitlin explained that the Deers have been living at the farm since they were very young and love living their as they feel safe and get fed well. The Deer could easily escape as they can jump as high at 7ft and the fence was 6ft high.

Finally we had so much fun on the park and the jumping pillows, the children were not stop giggling and had so much fun with their friends.
