Colne Junior Council

Yesterday, Mrs Duerden took some of the School Council members to Colne Town Hall where they met with School Councillors from other Colne primary schools. Sarah Cockburn-Price, a Colne Town Councillor, was also at the meeting, along with representatives from the local police. They have decided to work together to try to improve things in Colne, especially for children. 

During the meeting, the children voted on who would do key roles such as Chairperson and Secretary. All four of our representatives gave a presentation to the group saying why they would be good at a particular role and they were all amazing! Mrs Duerden was bursting with pride throughout the meeting! In the end Ade was elected Vice Chairperson and Charlie was elected Treasurer.

The group will meet every few weeks and have been asked to think about road safety, parks and the environment before the next meeting. They will speak to other children in their class and listen to their ideas before feeding back to the rest of the group. They are all really looking forward to working witrh the other pupils during the year.
