As part of Children’s Mental Health week the children in reception class enjoyed a well-being spa afternoon.
We did some activities and spoke about how we can be kind to ourselves and look after our own wellbeing in order to build resilience and coping mechanisms.
During circle time we had time to think about our wellbeing and what makes us happy, comfortable and healthy. We spoke about different emotions and how we could help someone or ourselves to feel better. The children also learnt some ways to cope through breathing techniques, such as rainbow breathing.
In the classroom we had a mindfulness meditation centre where we could relax and close our eyes to think about our emotions, we could share these with others around us and discuss them.
Our well-being spa had a calming aroma of lavender and camomile and the sound of calming music. Other activities included; Foot spa, Nail salon and Eye mask station. The children enjoyed an unwinding afternoon.
