August 2024 - Settling in

What a busy start to the academic year!

The new children have settled in well and have started to form friendships. They are becoming familiar with routines and our nursery rules and expectations.

It has been a lovey sunny week so we have made the most of the outdoors. The children have enjoyed making dens and they have been learning how to ride the wheeled toys safely and how to take turns.

Our first topic is 'All About Me.' The children have painted self portraits and we spoke about our families at circle time. The children used a mirror and tried to use the correct colours.

We taste tested different fruits and made our own fruit salads. We learnt how to use a knife safely and chop our own fruit up. We then voted for our favourite and they wrote their name on the class chart.

We have also enjoyed the story 'The Colour Monster.' We have been talking about our emotions and what makes us feel happy, sad, angry, calm, scared and confused.
